Sidney Govou is a 28-year old striker with Beninese descent, who currently plays for French Champions Olympique Lyon. He has been very loyal to his club ever Dominique Wilkins Jersey since joining their youth academy at the age of 17 in 1996. He signed his first profe sional contract with the club in 1999. Although his main position is that of Rajon Rondo Jersey a striker, he rarely plays in this position due to his lack of composure in front of goal when under pre sure. Thus he is played more as an attacking midfielder, winger or secondary striker. He is known mainly for his pace and technique. Govou is no stranger to league triumphs. He has won the French Ligue 1 seven consecutive times since 2002 with Olympique Lyon. Also, his team triumphed in the Trophee des Champions each season from 2002 till 2007. He was part of the John Collins Jersey squad that won the Coupe de France this season (2007/08) and the Coupe de la Ligue in 2001. For France, Govou was part of the team that won the Confederations Cup in 2003 and went all the way to the Final of De'Andre Hunter Jersey World Cup 2006, only to lose on penalties to Italy. Sidney made his debut on the 21st August 2002 against Tunisia. Until just before Euro 2008, he has made 32 appearances for France, in which he scored 7 goals.
