The begin mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, and the three-day period is the final time the team will practice until the start of training camp in July.Though mandatory minicamp won't make or break the roster status of most players, it is highly beneficial for rookies to learn the playbook and prepare for their first training camp, and for players fighting for roster positioning to leave a lasting impre sion on the coaches until late July, when training camp begins. The Raiders have quite a few players to keep an eye on during this week's practices, but we've narrowed the list down to six.Raiders to watch at minicampThe QuarterbacksLas Vegas' quarterback competition between Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew has been the top storyline for months now. Head coach Antonio Pierce will have to choose between a young player with upside versus a veteran Walt Frazier Jersey who has shown he can be a serviceable starter but has spent most of his career as a backup. Both quarterbacks nearly led their teams to the playoffs in 2023. O'Connell showed glimpses of fantastic play in his rookie campaign, but he also had his fair share of struggles. Minshew nearly led the Colts to a division title last year and has proven that he can hold his own as a starter. While the quarterback competition won't be won or lost in mandatory minicamp, it will take center stage this week. We'll see if there's any change in rep distribution after the signal-callers have split them up until this point.G Jackson Powers-JohnsonPowers-Johnson didn't see much action in OTAs because he was, so we'll be keeping an eye on his status for mandatory minicamp to see if he can get back on the field. The 2024 second-round pick is expected to step in as the Raiders' starting guard this season and provide excellent pa s protection and elite versatility. The 21-year-old allowed zero sacks and four quarterback pre sures in Elfrid Payton Jersey his collegiate career and will look to establish himself as a core member of Las Vegas' future plans. The rookiesOn top of JPJ, we'll be keeping an eye on the entire rookie cla s and especially the 2024 RJ Barrett Jersey draft cla s to see if they're standing out and getting any first-team reps.Offensive tackle DJ Glaze, cornerback Decamerion Richardson, linebacker Tommy Eichenberg, running back Dylan Laube, safety Trey Taylor and cornerback M.J. Devonshire are all vying for depth roles, and Richardson and Glaze have an outside shot to grab a starting role.As for first-round pick Brock Bowers, he figures to have a prominent role in the offense from the jump, although he'll need to keep progre sing. So far, Bowers has managed to stand out for his playmaking ability and versatility. In addition to the draft cla s, undrafted free agents will have an opportunity to shine and help their cause ahead of training camp next month.CB Jakorian BennettBennett struggled in his rookie campaign, as he lost his starting job after four games, dealt with injury, and scored a 41.1 coverage grade. Though Bennett's rookie season was one to forget, the 23-year-old has a chance to snag a starting spot in training camp.Las Vegas doesn't have an established CB2 on the outside opposite Jack Jones, and Bennett is a leading candidate to capture that Nerlens Noel Jersey role. Getting first-team reps and performing well in minicamp this week would be an ideal step for the former Maryland standout as he looks to secure a prominent role on the defense.Thayer Munford Jr.Munford Jr. is expected to take over as the starting right tackle this season after the departure of Jermaine Eluemunor, and after the Raiders didn't spend a high draft pick on the position. The 24-year-old still has room to grow but was inconsistent in pa s protection last season, allowing four sacks and 28 QB pre sures in 521 snaps. The former Ohio State Buckeye did perform well in the run game, scoring an 80.4 run-blocking grade.Munford Jr. will have to display improved pa s protection in minicamp and training camp if he wants to be the starter at the right tackle in 2024.Tre TuckerIn limited playing time, Tucker showcased Dick Barnett Jersey his big play ability, as he averaged 17.4 yards per reception and had three catches over 40 yards on just 34 targets. The 23-year-old's versatility to play in the slot and on the outside could be a valuable a set for offensive coordinator Luke Getsy. Tucker will compete with Michael Gallup and Jalen Guyton for the WR3 role, and a strong minicamp would be a step in the right direction in earning that role.Tyree WilsonWilson had a disappointing rookie season, as he tallied just 3.5 sacks and 24 QB pre sures while playing le s than 50% of the team's defensive snaps. Despite that, Wilson has an opportunity to seize valuable playing time in 2024.The 24-year-old has the versatility to move around on the defensive line and has the talent to be a disruptive pa s rusher. Performing well at mandatory minicamp and training camp will be vital for Wilson's 2024 outlook.
NFLs Hall of Fame inductees 2022 Who made the Pro Football Hall of Fame class this year
By sharonorn, 2025-04-20
Last year, it was clear that Peyton Manning would be among those enshrined to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The all-time great quarterback's status was never in doubt, and he was voted in during his first year on the ballot. The 2022 Pro Football Hall of fame ballot doesn't have a shoo-in of Manning's caliber among its J.R. Smith Jersey ranks. It may not even have candidates like Charles Woodson and Calvin Johnson, who were enshrined in the Hall of Fame as part of last year's ceremony.Still, there are plenty of talented players that will and should be inducted. There just aren't as many clear cut-and-dry cases among the 15 finalists for 2022.IYER:There are three first-time nominees among the final 15 this year. Andre Johnson, DeMarcus Ware and Devin Hester are all hoping to make it to Canton during their first years on the ballot. All have a good case, but Lonzo Ball Jersey Hester's will be one to watch closely, as no return specialist has ever made the Hall of Fame on those merits alone.Nine of the nominees on the 2022 ballot were also on the 2021 ballot. They just weren't among the candidates that got into the Danny Green Jersey Hall of Fame. Of last year's final 15, only Clay Matthews Jr. failed to both be enshrined in Canton and wasn't a finalist again in 2022.MORE: Which players are next to join the Pro Football Hall of Fame? The Week 5 Power Rankings are here -- and so is some serious movement. Yes, at the quarter pole, we're reshuffling the deck. Hey, but that's what makes this whole deal fun, right? Almost as fun as The Seahawks won the football game. Stripes blew a call that would've factored in. Cake is delicious. Patrick Claybon (@PatrickClaybon) Agreed on the first point. The had 55 minutes to do something on offense. And yes, we'll never know what would've happened from the 1-yard line. Oh, and I'm going with mint-chocolate ice cream cake, maybe with a plastic on top -- instead of the SpongeBob piece Baskin-Robbins always puts on there nowadays. No SpongeBob.Detroit wasn't the only team to experience misfortune in Week 4. If the Cowboys ever heal up and actually make the playoffs, the NFL MVP should go to their training staff. Scott Barnes (@barnes2000) And they are down two more players -- ugh.Yes, you will find that those dropped more than a couple spots, based on more than just . In fact, they were leapfrogged by a division rival in the proce s, keeping the NFC East's highest-ranked team parked squarely at 15. Man, what a play from the league's MVP and a wideout clearly on his wavelength. The bye week in New England meant additional time for fans to send along their tweets regarding how awesome their team is. No fanbase tweets such things more ... fans hop on Twitter as much, but in their case, it's more *"Hey, we're still kinda good!"* or -- a favorite -- *"Your (sic) an idiot."* Truth is, New England is a premier team right now -- and surprisingly, the defense is a large reason for that. The unit might not be setting the world on fire, but is solid enough for , who, well, is setting the world on fire. How difficult it must be to gameplan for these right now. If Wade Phillips doesn't win the A sistant Coach of the Year award this season, seriously strange things will be afoot at the NFL Honors show ... like walking away with the MVP. Give -- who sometimes looks like a 17-year-old with old-man strength out there -- and heaps of glory. Sing songs about 's in (and about ). But make no mistake, it's clear who this team's MVP is: Wade. Phillips. What in the world has gotten into these ? Dan Quinn certainly has exceeded everyone's expectations, especially on defense. The undefeated now have a turnover differential of plus-six (including four takeaways second only to Carolina in the NFL. On a day when the racked up 48 points, how in the world did only catch four pa ses for 38 yards? If you're a Jones fantasy owner, seeing the final score and then seeing Jones' output must have been like getting excited after finding the four quarters you need to wash your underwear ... only to learn your landlord suddenly changed the price to five quarters. Not to be too specific or anything. Not like I recommended Jones in daily fantasy last week on national TV or anything. You think would like to have that last throw back? Watching live, I thought there was no way Arizona was losing the game. If you mi sed it, Palmer had rookie wide open on a slant on fourth-and-2 with his team down by two points late in the fourth quarter -- and overthrew him by a couple of yards. Of course, set an ominous tone for the day. For now, Arizona is 3-1 with a clear lead in the NFC West. The Cards have heading into their Week 9 bye. When they Bruce Arians could be 6-2 and fighting for first place. Don't want to look ahead, but we're looking ahead. Why does nobody talk about the ? Should we start calling them the little, since they are vastly ignored? Sure, your friendly writer doesn't have them ranked as high as other undefeated teams ... but he did even after went down. I don't want to you off the deep end, fans, but this Darrell Bevell offense struggles so much that it might be too much for even a top-flight defense to overcome. Fortunately, Seattle's defense is even better than top-flight -- with back in the fold, that is. Twenty drives in the past two games: 18 punts, one fumble, one field goal allowed. Good grief, these guys are dominant. Remember Week 1, when the ? Yeah, those days are gone. Oh, , how you make games interesting. Still not sure whether that was a fumble toward the end of I'd say no. Either way, count me among the millions (thousands Kevin Durant Jersey ?) who thought the game was over at that point. That's not to say the didn't earn the win, but when you suffer through 17 penalties, go 0 for 3 in the red zone and turn the football over twice, you're suffering abuse at your own hands. Move over, , and take notice, . Gurley looked awesome. For a big man with an almost Eddie George-esque body, Gurley produced some gorgeous runs. Then the rookie had the presence of mind -- or good sense to listen to his teammates in the huddle -- to down himself and burn clock late. That play reminded me of a similar occurrence when Brian Westbrook was toasting the in 2007 and tackled himself after a big run late in the game, to keep the clock running. This Gurley kid has some of Westbrook's shimmy, with the stature to be a bell-cow back in the era of the committee. As a non-SEC watcher, am I overreacting on Gurley? He has 377 total yards of offense in four games, and before the season is done, will probably average over 100 yards from scrimmage per game. Murray is legit, and despite the fact that the highlight shows are making him look like anything but right now, he will be one of the top running backs in football this year. #markitdown on Sunday was a thing of football beauty. Making that kind of grab -- then holding on despite immediately getting popped -- is worthy of a division win in and of itself. Leaning on the running game (32 rushes for 127 yards) and one of the better front sevens in the league led to Washington winning third down -- and, ultimately, the game. Sitting on the set of "NFL GameDay Blitz" on NFL Now (fun show, if you haven't caught it), Ike Taylor kept reminding us how different it is for a back like Murray or to get the ball out of the shotgun, as opposed to receiving it in the pistol or I-formation, where a back can get some push-off. has a head start on this whole quarterback thing.Williams said he wanted to be the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft when he was a child. He and his father, as a result, have been in and out of various quarterback camps since, molding Williams into exactly what he wanted to be.Well.ADVERTISEMENT Mi sion accomplished. The made Williams the first overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft and what's more, Williams worked with his now-offensive coordinator Shane Waldron in one of those aforementioned camps, the QB Collective. It means he has a head Thaddeus Young Jersey start on the ever-important chemistry between OC and QB.Going further, the Bears all but handed him the playbook in early April when Williams took his one pre-draft visit to Chicago. He went to no other teams. General manager Ryan Poles and head coach Matt Eberflus took Williams through the first installs, sent him back with homework, and let him get familiarized with Waldron's scheme in the ensuing weeks. And Williams dove right in, realizing there were going to be new things he'll have to master at the NFL level. For example, he'll need to go under center more, something Lincoln Riley's offense at USC didn't have him doing much of. There are also new cadences, new signals, new checks, new concepts, all of which he will not only need to understand himself but also be able to relay to his teammates. But with the playbook already in his hands, it doesn't look like that's going to be a problem."I think the one thing Caleb has shown is that he can be in all sorts of backfield alignments," said Waldron on Saturday. "He did a great job at his pro day, he's played quarterback his whole life, so I think the biggest thing will be just the footwork and really mastering that first step from under center, something that he's taken pride in already and really gotten a jump on in this rookie minicamp. But he's played the position his whole life, just like these other guys have, so I think there's a good, Patrick Williams Jersey natural transition. It wasn't something where Caleb was starting from total scratch with the drops and his footwork."His arm talent...to put the ball where it needs to be. That was evident from Day 1."Were concerns about Caleb Williams maturity overblown? More than the on-the-field stuff, Williams also has a head start on the lifestyle of an NFL player.Gone are the days of wide-eyed rookies getting their first taste of the busine s side of the industry. Make no mistake, it's always been a very large component that vies for a piece of each of their lives, but the NFL shines that spotlight even brighter especially when you're the new face of a century-old franchise. But in this NIL-generation, players are coming in more experienced, more seasoned as busine smen than ever before. That's especially true in the case of Williams, whose career earnings are estimated in the tens of millions without ever playing a down at the pro level. As a result, Williams already has a handle on, well, how to handle everything else that comes with being an NFL player."It goes back to having a plan, it goes back to having a support team around you," Williams said. "That's really important off the field so I don't have to deal with any of it. I have the right people that I trust that give me summaries of what's going on and things like that. So being able to handle that and not put much thought proce s into it allows me to work on phase 1 Noah Vonleh Jersey install and fully dig in and get to the point like I was speaking about being able to dig into that but also find ways to learn it and different ways to be able to coach it to my teammates and help out."The Bears really couldn't be set up with a better fit for Chicago in its current state: a franchise starved for succe s, especially under center. Every Bears fan's sanity seemingly rests on what Williams can accomplish this season. Their patience has already worn thin thanks to the sins of general managers and coaches before the current regime. That isn't their fault but it is theirs to contend with.Williams comes from the second-largest media market in the country, though. He spent two years at USC, under the showtime lights of Hollywood, and the biggest scandal he was a part of was what color he painted his nails and the fact that he seeks out his mother for support and comfort. The horror.Los Angeles prepared Williams for the limelight, or rather, the blue and orange light, he will now be under. And it isn't just Bears fans, either.Given the historical significance of the league's founding franchise and the nationwide reach of the Chicago Bears, the entire NFL is now invested. Fans of other teams, of other leagues, are now having discu sions on if this could finally be it for Chicago. If they can finally find stability in a signal caller. If they can finally see sustained succe s that helps them reach a mountaintop they've only been to twice in the Super Bowl era, with only one full conquest. To give that task to a 22-year-old seems daunting, to say the least. But Williams seems the right, and perhaps only, person for the job.Yet while Bears Scottie Pippen Jersey fans have jumped to conclusions, Williams is still taking it a step at a time."To be a great leader, you have to learn how to follow first," said Williams on Friday. "So right now I'm following all the vets, I'm following all the coaches, I'm listening having both ears open and my mouth shut just kind of sitting back listening. When I get to the point of when I learn everything, when I learn the ways of how we do it, the Luke Kornet Jersey culture, the playbook and what the offensive line, wide receivers are all doing, running backs and tight ends, things like that, then you can start taking the lead, then you can start taking the helms of it and take the next steps. For right now though, I'm listening more than I'm speaking and talking and I'm taking it one step at a time and being in the moment."Williams doesn't shy away from the expectations. But he remains realistic. He's somehow experienced, while still being a rookie.Above all else, Caleb Williams was the last domino to fall for the Bears' rebuild, but he's still ahead of the curve.Carmen Vitali covers the NFC North for FOX Sports. Texas A&M offensive tackle suffered a torn ACL in the third quarter of the Aggies' Liberty Bowl win over West Virginia, and conventional wisdom was that he Marques Bolden Jersey would slide down draft boards. NFL Media analyst Lance Zierlein said that's not the case. "After speaking with multiple teams I have no doubt that Ced Ogbuehi's ACL tear of the first round," Zierlein tweeted Matthew Dellavedova Jersey Tuesday morning. "He's going in 1st." Ogbuehi (6-foot-5 1/4, 306 pounds) played guard and both tackle spots at A&M, moving from guard as a sophomore to right tackle as a junior to left tackle as a senior. But the late-season injury, which caused Ogbuehi to mi s out on the testing and drills at the NFL as well as A&M's pro day, was seen as a negative. Ogbuehi has said he expects to be ready by training J.R. Smith Jersey camp, but that seems an optimistic outlook, given that it can take nine months to recover from ACL surgery. Ogbuehi was one of the most Kevin Love Jersey highly hyped offensive linemen heading into the 2014 season, and his versatility and athleticism were considered big selling points. But even before the injury, he had a rather uneven season and even was moved back to the right side for a bit. NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah has Ogbuehi at No. 50 in his and Zierlein has Ogbuehi as Ogbuehi has who would seem to be in the market for a tackle or a guard. There is good news and Steve Gleason Jersey bad news for Florida State heading into its game Saturday against North Carolina State. The good news: Jameis Winston will return for the Seminoles after the star quarterback was suspended for last week's game vs. Clemson. On the other hand, they will be without starting defensive end Mario Edwards Jr. on Saturday due to a concu sion he suffered last week.Head coach Jimbo Fisher ruled Edwards out after practice on Thursday . Sophomore DeMarcus Walker, who took over for Edwards in the second half last New Orleans Saints Jersey week, will start in place of Edwards against the Wolfpack. The Seminoles are already thin along the defensive line as they approach the thick of ACC play. Defensive tackle Niles Lawrence-Stample was ruled out for the season after suffering a torn pectoral muscle vs. Clemson.Edwards Marcus Davenport Jersey likely won't be mi sed too much against an overmatched N.C. State team this week, but his status will be watched closely as tougher tests await Florida State in late October. The 6-foot-3, 294-pound junior is considered one of the and a potential first-round pick if he were to declare early for the 2015 ."He can Wil Lutz Jersey play D-tackle, he can play D-end, he can play a 9-technique, he can play a 7- or a 6- technique ," prior to the start of the season. "The guy is 305 pounds and can stand still and do back flips in front of you in full pads? I mean, Erik Mccoy Jersey he's athletic."Backup running back Mario Pender was ruled out for Saturday's game, too -- he also suffered a concu sion against Clemson. After visiting N.C. State on Saturday, top-ranked Florida State will return home to play Wake Forest on Oct. 4.You can follow Bryan Fischer on Twitter at .
Premier Maliek Collins Jersey League top-four hopefuls Manchester United travel to the Vitality Stadium to meet bottom-half Bournemouth in a must-win clash on Saturday. Tickets for this game will be in limited supply, so if you are looking to online make sure you get them sorted quickly.Despite securing survival on their top-flight return, the Cherries are keen to avoid ending a decent league season with a whimper after losing back-to-back matches. After a 3-1 home lo s to out-of-sorts Chelsea, Gary ONeils side slumped to a 2-0 defeat at Crystal Palace last weekend and could make it three in a row for the first time since a run of four between December-January.However, they can draw confidence from winning their final fixture at the Vitality in three of their five previous Premier League seasons (D1, L1), while Man Utds travel sickne s can only further their cause.Erik ten Hags side thumped Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 at home last time out to maintain a one-point lead on fifth-placed Liverpool with a game in hand. But playing outside Old Trafford hasnt been Uniteds strong suit by any Charvarius Ward Jersey stretch of the imagination, as theyve only won 36% of their Premier League points this season on the road (24/66).Theyve lost their last away league games by an identical 1-0 scoreline, yet now could be a perfect time to defy their woeful form on hostile turf and consolidate their top-four bid.Match PreviewBournemouthBournemouths defensive frailties have escalated in recent weeks, with ONeils team suffering three defeats in their last four league matches at the Vitality (W1), capitulating ten times in this sequence.Particularly vulnerable in the opening stages of play, the Cherries have conceded a league-high eight goals in the first 15 minutes on home turf in 2022/23.That hardly bodes well for their quest to hold Man Utd at bay for only the second time, having failed to keep a clean sheet in 13 of their previous 14 meetings in all competitions. With that in mind, its hardly a surprise that Bournemouth have lost eight of their 11 encounters against the Red Devils in the Premier League (W2, D1), though they did win their most recent clash at home in 2019.Manchester UnitedMan Utds ever-growing form woes on the road have seen them lose four of their last six away games Mike McGlinchey Jersey in the Premier League (W1, D1), failing to get on the scoresheet in each defeat.Ten Hags lads went down 1-0 at Crystal Palace in their final away league fixture of 2021/22 and could lose two consecutive such match-ups for the first time since 1992.But the Red Devils seem well-prepared to avoid that unwanted piece of history after clocking three wins on their last four top-flight visits to the Vitality (L1).Each win in that run saw them score at least two goals, which has been the case in only two of Uniteds last six Premier League travels, so the visitors cannot take anything for granted.Team NewsBournemouth will be without Hamed Traore, Marcus Tavernier, Ryan Fredericks and Junior Stanislas as none has yet to recover from injury setbacks. On the other hand, Man Utd cannot call upon the services of Donny van de Beek, Phil Jones, Lisandro Martinez and January loan addition Ben Garland Jersey Marcel Sabitzer.Theres still a glimmer of hope that Marcus Rashford could return for this trip, but Anthony Martial should lead the line at the Vitality.Bournemouth vs Manchester United Potential Line-upsBournemouth (4-2-3-1):Neto; Chris Mepham, Lloyd Kelly, Marcos Senesi, Matias Vina; Jefferson Lerma, Lewis Cook; Philip Billing, Ryan Christie, Dango Ouattara; Dominic Solanke.Manchester Jaylon Moore Jersey United (4-2-3-1):David de Gea; Aaron Wan-Bi saka, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia; Christian Eriksen, Casemiro; Bruno Fernandes, Antony, Jadon Sancho; Anthony Martial. We Say: Bournemouth 1-2 Manchester UnitedThis is it for United they absolutely need to win this game to lock up a top-four finish, especially given Newcastle Uniteds 4-1 blowout of Brighton on Thursday evening. Win this, and two relatively easy home games against Chelsea and Fulham are left, and United would not only have one foot in the Champions League but would have also locked Liverpool out of the tournament. United have (mostly) proven up to the task when its really mattered and despite their woeful away from, were expecting a win.
